Start-up Process Illustration

About

The Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurship is a place for students in college to develop their interests in innovative thinking and encourage them to launch a start-up. The Center had a requirement to implement a wall design that would attract students to explore more about start-ups and get inspired.

As a result, I came up with the idea of turning the start-up process into an electricity-producing factory. As the process smoothly progresses, it ends up with a lighted bulb, which indicates that the process has been successful, and also represents creativity and innovation.

User Analysis

Most students came to the Center for skill shops. During break time, they would also visit the Center and look for the latest course information. Our hope is that they can explore more about entrepreneurship through this wall design. However, there is a block in front of the wall, making it hard to discover the wall design from the front side.

Define

  • Inspire students to learn more about entrepreneurship
  • Wall design is hard to be found from the front side

Solution

To address this scenario, I decided to create an infographic to introduce the start-up process on this wall-sized design. However, I had to solve the problem that people might not be aware of this design. Using mind mapping, I came up with the idea of creating an illustration of the electricity-producing factory that would be hidden by the block. And at the two sides I added  a switch as a start point and a lightbulb as an end point. People might be attracted by the switch or the lightbulb and therefore be curious about what is going on behind the block.
